On your computer (app): projects, measurements, photographs and price lists stay local. ComputoLab is an offline app and does not send your content to external servers.
Licence: in order to activate or verify a Pro licence the app sends our systems just two pieces of information: the licence number and a workstation fingerprint.
It is worth being precise about the fingerprint. We do not come into possession of any data from your computer. The fingerprint is a string of characters calculated on your computer from a technical identifier of the machine, transformed with a one-way cryptographic function: the starting data never leaves your computer, and from the fingerprint it is not possible to trace it back or reconstruct it. To us it is a label without meaning, which serves one purpose only — counting the installations provided for by the plan you have purchased, so that a three-workstation licence is worth three. It does not tell us which computer you use, it does not make it possible to recognise you on other services and it is not used for any other purpose. If you choose to give the installation a name so as to find it again, we also keep that. Licence verification also works offline.
If you purchased through a reseller: in this case, and only in this case, the app asks you for an email address at the time of activation. The reason is that a code purchased from a reseller reaches us without any information about who will use it: without a contact address we would not be able to send you the licence again if you lose it, nor to warn you before it expires. The address is used for these two things and for support: not for marketing communications, which we send only with your consent, and it is not disclosed to the reseller or to anyone else. Those who purchase from our website do not have to provide anything: in that case the contact address comes from the payment.
Licence register: in order to manage purchases, renewals and support we keep your email address, the name and country provided at the time of purchase, the licence number and the active installations. The register is held on Cloudflare infrastructure in western Europe. Your personal data does not go into the signed licence: inside there is only a code that says nothing about you.
Service emails: to deliver your activation key and communications about renewal we use Scaleway Transactional Email (Paris datacentre). We do not send marketing communications without your consent.
Support: when you write to supporto@computolab.it we process your email address and the content of your message, including any attachments, for two purposes: to reply to you, and to find your previous requests if you write again, so you do not have to explain everything from scratch. The correspondence stays in the support mailbox, on Zoho datacenters in the European Union; it does not feed any other archive. We keep it for the duration of the relationship and up to three years after the last exchange, then we delete it. The address is not used for marketing communications and is not shared with third parties. If you need to describe a project in your message, please do not include personal data of other people (for example the names of your clients) when it is not needed to solve the problem.
Purchases: payment data is processed by Paddle.com as Merchant of Record; we do not process or store your card details.
Website: this website does not use profiling cookies or visitor tracking tools, and for that reason it does not require a consent banner. For traffic statistics we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which provides aggregated data (page views, country of origin, device type) without cookies and without identifying individual visitors.
Pro waiting list: until 19 August 2026 the pricing page hosted a “Notify me” form, through which you could leave your email address to be told when sales opened. The form is no longer there. The addresses collected at that time are kept on Cloudflare infrastructure in Europe for the sole purpose of giving that notice, they are not disclosed to third parties and they are not used for other marketing communications; once that purpose has been fulfilled they are deleted. The legal basis was consent. You may ask for them to be erased at any time by writing to privacy@computolab.it.
We process data in order to provide the service (performance of the contract), to manage licences and support, and to comply with legal obligations. For those who write to us without yet being customers, the legal basis is the performance of pre-contractual measures taken at their request. Optional communications are sent only with your consent.
We retain licence data for as long as is necessary to manage the relationship and to meet tax obligations. Support correspondence is retained for the duration of the relationship and up to three years after the last exchange.
You may request access to, rectification, erasure, restriction and portability of your data, and lodge a complaint with the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali. Write to privacy@computolab.it.
We use the following suppliers, which process data on our behalf in compliance with the GDPR: Paddle (payments and invoicing, as Merchant of Record), Cloudflare (website hosting, CDN, licence register and aggregated statistics without cookies), Scaleway (sending of service emails, datacentre in France) and Zoho (support mailbox, on datacentres in the European Union).
