Answers to the most common questions about licences, price lists and projects. If you cannot find what you need, write to us: you get a person, not a robot.
After purchase you receive your licence key by email. Open ComputoLab, go to Preferences → Licence, paste the key and confirm: Pro activates at once. You do not need to stay connected: the licence works offline too.
Yes: the same licence works on both Mac and Windows, but it is active on one computer at a time. To move it, deactivate it on the first computer (Preferences → Licence → Deactivate) and activate it on the second with the same number. To work on several computers at once there are the 3- and 5-seat licences.
No data is deleted. The app reverts to the Free features: your projects stay open and printable to PDF (watermarked). Renew and you get clean exports, unlimited projects and all the documents back. The price lists stay available either way: they do not depend on the subscription.
Yes: the invoice is issued by Paddle, our Merchant of Record. Consumers: VAT for your own country is added to the payment and shown on the invoice. Businesses with a VAT number: enter it at checkout and the invoice is issued without VAT, under the reverse charge, to be accounted for as with any EU supplier. Billing details are entered during payment, under “Add VAT number”: here is where to find it, with a picture of the screen.
You can cancel at any time before renewal, from the link in your purchase email (payments are handled by Paddle). You keep Pro until the end of the period already paid for. See also the refund policy.
Nothing to do: at start-up, if you are online, ComputoLab checks on its own for new or updated price lists and offers them to you — and if you are offline you carry on as usual. This holds for every edition, including the one in force, in every version of the app: they are open data. The full list is on the Price lists page.
From Price lists → Import you can load a list from a CSV, XLSX or PDF file. ComputoLab recognises codes, descriptions, units of measure, prices and the labour content. The imported list is searchable in your bills of quantities straight away.
Yes, if you hold a properly purchased copy: you import it like any other list and it stays yours, on your computer. The DEI belongs to its publisher and is not included in ComputoLab.
Yes: you switch on the lists you need for that project and the search runs across all of them, by code or description, with instant results even on lists of tens of thousands of items.
On your computer, in a local store. ComputoLab is an offline app: projects, photos and price lists are not sent to any server.
From the Projects screen you export the project as a backup file, copy it to the other computer (memory stick, email, whatever suits) and import it. The backup holds everything: bills of quantities, measurements, documents and photos.
Every document comes out in PDF (in the Free version too, watermarked) and, with Pro, in Word and Excel without a watermark. The bill of quantities also imports and exports in XPWE format, for two-way exchange with other estimating software.
No. The free version has no time limit and asks for no credit card: it handles 1 project with every feature on screen and watermarked PDF printing.
